WELCOME BACK! For those who logged off, this is what you missed.

maswartz:

1. @staff made a post pretty much saying “Your stuff isn’t getting deleted, just hidden from everyone but you” and “Yeah we know you hate the term “female presenting nipples” but we ain’t gonna stop saying it”

2. If a blog has a pixelated icon that means they got hit by the ban, you cannot view that blog outside the sidebar. You cannot even view their archive. Allegedly if you follow the advice in this post it’ll be fixed but only if it was an accidental flag (aka a real sfw blog)

3. The post Staff made including examples of what was ok to post. It got flagged.

4. Yes, the bots are still here. Yes they are still stealing posts and putting porn links on them. Yes there are still ads with stuff more sexual than they allow in posts. Yes innocent things are still getting flagged.

5. So yes, the site is still here and staff are still morons.

Little under-appreciated sea creature things:

bogleech:

By now I’ve met multiple people in my life who were unaware of any or all of the following and were delighted to learn them, so here is the master collection.

image

Scallops swim like they do in Spongebob

image

Scallops also have a bunch of googly eyes

image

Other mussels really do have big “tongues,” actually their “feet,” like on a snail or slug, which are basically their cousins

image

Every barnacle is an entire stationary crustacean, like a lobster or crab, and those are their legs

image

A sperm whale has a thin narrow little mouth and its lower jaw is basically a stick

image

Sea urchins walk around

image

Under the sea urchin is this mouth

image

Sand dollars are a type of sea urchin themselves and they just look like that

image

All sea anemones are meat eaters and mostly eat things about their own size

image

A starfish has a little eye on the end of each arm

image

Not only do octopuses have beaks but the bite of almost every octopus species is venomous, just in case shape-shifting, color changing, tentacles, suckers, ink and super intelligence weren’t enough super powers

plz comment with any you would like to add and also whether any were new or shocking to you

Photographs of Julia Pastrana, who was also known as the bear woman or ape woman. Pastrana worked throughout her life as a performer and singer, and died from complications of childbirth while in Moscow in 1860. Anatomy professor Ivan M. Sokolov performed the autopsy and embalmed her body. Apparently a colleague alerted Mansurov to the autopsy photographs preserved at the Anatomy Institute of Moscow University Medical School, and he included it in a follow-up article on differences between “acquired” and “hereditary” polytrichia. ‘Polytrichia’ is a medical term for excessive hair, and it is now known that Pastrana had a genetic condition called hypertrichosis terminalis.

Pastrana died from complications following the delivery of her son, who also had the same genetic condition. Her son died 3 days after he was born, with Pastrana herself dying 5 days later. Her husband had both her body and the body of her child preserved and later displayed in a glass cabinet. Pastrana only received a proper burial in her native Mexico in 2013, a full 153 years after she had died.

Part of attempts to ban all research that involves human fetal tissue, because the superstitious feelings of anti-choice fanatics over useless, garbage corpse flesh is apparently more important than any number of entire human lives.

Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.

This is blatantly untrue

Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.

Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)

Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,

DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.

Please reblog this version of the post to stop the spread of misinformation.

Color what?

That’s the point. These are artificial colors, most night vision systems are monochrome, which takes away a lot of detail, specially when you want to use them to read anything, like that road sign.

Holy fuck thats night time

Hold my pancakes THIS IS NIGHTTIME??!?

Okay but imagine this is how vampire night vision works, and the ones who complain about their cursed existence are just mad because they were goths before they were turned and now it’s TOO FUCKING BRIGHT ALL THE GODDAMN TIME.

Look at the stars!
